Silver Spur Ranch is a fourth-generation family ranch with roots that go deep. It all began as the May Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, branded with the distinctive double check. The May Family were dedicated cattle ranchers, but the harsh Wyoming winters eventually became too challenging. Seeking milder conditions, they moved to Medicine Lodge, Idaho, and rebranded as the U3, marking a new chapter in the ranch's history - the very place where Lana May Tomlinson grew up.

Lana later married Lynn Tomlinson, and together they purchased part of the original May Ranch, expanding it while honoring the family's legacy. Lynn was not only a rancher but also a skilled silversmith, crafting bits, spurs, and more. One day, two men came to his door asking for a guided hunting trip. Though he initially refused, he offered to sell them a pair of spurs instead - and what filled was an encounter with undercover forest rangers that could have discouraged him. But rather than giving up, Lynn saw an opportunity: many people would love to experience life on a Western ranch.

From that moment, Silver Spur Outfitters was born, offering guests hands-on ranch experiences - from branding days to horse drives. Over time, the horse drives became the crown jewel of the ranch experience, shaping the Silver Spur Ranch we know today.

Now the ranch is carried forward by Lana and Lynn's son, Dax, and his wife, Kylee, who continue the family tradition with the same passion for ranching and hospitality inviting guests to explore Idaho's breathtaking landscapes in unforgettable ways.
